# Instaseer V5 — agreed storage policy

Approved option: B. Policy version: v5-option-b-1. Date: September 9, 2026.

This records the approved product policy. The local pricing preview and policy tests implement it for review. R2 sample storage is connected. Customer billing, quota-enforced customer uploads, reminder delivery and deletion are not activated.

GB means 1,000,000,000 bytes. This is total occupied capacity, not an accumulating monthly grant. Plus includes 2,000 research credits each month; Pro includes 6,000. Annual billing keeps the same monthly releases. AI and original media are excluded from the research launch offer. Free-plan allowances are unchanged. Add-ons require a paid subscription; no automatic overage charges.

## Included content and accounting

Save captions, source IDs, dated metrics, report insights and optimized thumbnails automatically. Full videos and original carousel media are not available in the research launch offer. If introduced later, they will share subscription capacity under the rules below. Storage does not promise automatic acquisition of all originals, unlimited downloads from Instagram, or recovery of content that disappears.

Count durable subscription report data, thumbnails and selected originals. Count each unchanged asset once per account even if several reports reference it. Identical underlying files may be shared physically, but accounts have isolated permissions and logical usage. Changed report snapshots count separately. Internal logs, provider raw responses, backups and the public Molly sample are operator costs, not customer usage. Purchased-report data and thumbnails have a separate entitlement and are excluded from subscription capacity; full media added for those reports uses subscription capacity unless separately purchased.

Warn at 80% actual usage. Include pending reservations when checking whether a new capture or media save fits. Reserve an upper byte bound before acquisition, enforce it while streaming, settle actual bytes after success, release unused capacity, and never admit work based only on a browser counter. At capacity, pause new storage-consuming work. Existing reports remain readable. No automatic deletion to make room.

Users may remove originals without deleting the report or thumbnail. Explain that recapture is subject to availability and applicable charges. Do not keep an unbounded duplicate ZIP; generate exports on demand and expire temporary export files after 24 hours.

## Retention and cancellation

While a subscription is active and paid, keep saved subscription content within capacity. Scheduled cancellation takes effect at the paid-through timestamp, not when the cancel button is clicked. Then allow 30 days of read-only report access and export. Block new captures and media saves during that period. Subscription-only content becomes eligible for scheduled deletion at the end; never promise immediate deletion at the exact second.

Renewal before expiry restores eligible content. After deletion, recovery is not promised. A failed renewal never extends paid-through merely because a webhook says the subscription is active; use verified payment and entitlement rules. Successful payment extends paid-through. No new entitlement is granted by a checkout redirect or client input.

Plan expiry reminders: 14, 7 and 1 days before deletion eligibility, with idempotent delivery records. Reminders must accurately distinguish expiring subscription content from purchased reports. These messages are specified, not currently sent.

## Downgrades and add-on removal

Self-service plan changes, billing-interval changes and add-on purchases are not currently available. The following policy applies when those actions are introduced.

Changes take effect at the next renewal. Show projected usage and capacity before confirmation. If over the reduced capacity, pause new storage-consuming work immediately, give 30 days to remove originals or restore capacity, and preserve read/export access while the lower subscription remains paid. After those 30 days, remain read-only while over capacity; do not silently delete reports. This deliberate grandfathering protects existing work while preventing further growth. Removing an add-on follows the same rule.

## One-time reports

Purchased report data and optimized thumbnails remain hosted for 12 calendar months from successful delivery. For leap-day delivery, clamp expiry to the final valid day of the target month. Cancelling a subscription never shortens this term. Original-media archiving is excluded.

The approved research offer is documented in [Research plans](./v5-research-policy.md): $9 for up to 500 posts and $15 for up to 1,000 posts. Subscription purchase availability is shown on the pricing page. Existing purchases keep their agreed terms. Larger research depths are not currently offered.

## Safe deletion

Delete a physical object only after every subscription and purchased-report reference is expired, there is no pending job, and it is not a protected sample. Deletion must recheck authoritative entitlements just before removal and record an audit result. Missing or unresolved entitlement information fails closed. Free quota only after reference removal is confirmed; shared objects remain until the last valid reference ends.

The complete Molly Tea Arcadia research archive is protected and excluded from automatic cleanup. Existing customer contracts are not retroactively changed.

## Transferred access

Transferred purchased and compensation credits include Plus research access with 20 GB and 1 project, with no scheduled expiry or recurring charge. The designated founding-member grant includes Pro access with 100 GB and 4 projects. Each project supports up to 5 saved accounts. Research admitted under non-expiring access has no scheduled access expiry; storage limits and account ownership rules still apply. These grants do not include recurring monthly credits.
